Sadržaj kolegija: Ovaj uvodni kolegij bavi se temama iz opće lingvistike i odabranim temama kojima se lingvistički opisuje engleski jezik. Jezik će biti definiran na temelju jedinstvenih svojstava. Ovaj kolegij uključuje uvodne teme poput podrijetla jezika, potom se prelazi na temeljne lingvističke discipline poput sintakse i semantike, a završna je tema suodnos engleskoga jezika i kulture.

Ciljevi: Studenti će steći osnovna teorijska znanja potrebna za lingvističko proučavanje engleskoga jezika. Kolegij služi kao uvod u ostale lingvističke kolegije na ovome studijskom programu, a studentima će omogućiti da usporede i analiziraju razne pristupe proučavanju engleskoga jezika.
