The Department of American Literature, School of English, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in collaboration with the Hellenic Association for American Studies (HELAAS) and the kind contribution of the Fulbright Foundation in Greece is announcing the organization of the 3rd Summer School to take place in Thessaloniki, at Aristotle University (School of English premises; Faculty of Philosophy; 3rd floor) between
Monday 26 June to Saturday 1 July, 2017
The 2017 Summer School aims at examining various moments of socio-cultural, historical and political transition by commenting on the notions of peace and conflict both in an American and transatlantic context with special emphasis placed on human rights, global education, shared cultural values, community diversity, cohesion and understanding.
We welcome applications from:
- undergraduate and postgraduate students
- researchers from all fields of studies
- educators from primary, secondary and college education
- IB students
- the interested public
The Summer School program is open to everyone who wishes to deepen their understanding of current scholarly debates and research within the context of:
- Ethnicity
- Global America
- Peace and Conflict
- Global education
- Human rights, cultural diversity, non-violence.
The language of the Summer School is English. The material to be used emerges from American Studies without excluding its conversation with other disciplines and socio-cultural realities.
The Summer School is divided into three thematic sections (two consecutive days per theme) to be discussed in a lecture and workshop format followed by individual or group projects.
PLEASE NOTE

Language of teaching: English
Summer School fee: 120 EUR (the cost includes administration fee, registration material, coffee break, access to Moodle platform and digitized study material)
CERTIFICATE
– Certificate of attendance will be awarded to all participants plus certification of the ECTS gained.
COURSE MATERIAL
– The Summer School total of seminar/workshop hours together with reading and individual responses time equals 2 ECTS.
