Admission Procedure for Graduate Programs of the Department of English

Year 2024/25

Enrollment Procedure for the Graduate Programs at the Department of English
Academic Year 2024/25

The prerequisite for enrolment in any of the four graduate programs at the Department of English is a completed undergraduate program in English or its equivalent. There is no specific enrollment exam. All candidates who submit a valid certificate of a completed undergraduate program in English (a 3-year program in English language and literature) may be included in the ranking procedure. Students will be ranked according to the weighted GPA in their undergraduate program in English.

*Your weighted GPA is calculated by multiplying the ECTS points of each prerequisite course by the grade achieved, adding all of these results together, and dividing the sum by the number of ECTS points provided by these courses. The prerequisite courses for a Graduate Programs at the Department of English are all courses from your undergraduate program in English.

Example:

An applicant has a grade of 5 from a course which is worth 4 ECTS points, a grade of 4 from a course which is worth 4 ECRS points, and a grade of 3 from a course which is worth 3 ECTS points.
5×4 + 4×4 + 3×3 = 30 + 16 + 9 = 45
45 ÷ (4+4+3) = 45 ÷ 11 = 4.0909090909; the resulting weighted GPA, rounded to three decimal spaces, is 4.090

Based on the ranking procedure, the Department of English enrols a maximum of 108 students in four graduate programs:
