As such, each week will include a discussion of the texts as well as lectures based on the history and culture of the era. <\/p>\n<p><strong>EVALUATION: <\/strong>Grades will be based on a continual assessment model that includes:<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Brief Written Assignments: Four (800\u20131000 words each) covering different writing styles. 15% each\u201460% total.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Exams: Midterm and End of Term Exams covering the lecture content and readings. 15% each\u201430% total.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Attendance &amp; Participation: Class attendance and participation mandatory\u2014come prepared to discuss. 10%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Readings (all texts will be supplied online or as PDFs):<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u25cf Booker T.
