We provide translation, editing, proofreading, and language technology and terminology services in all EU languages, as well as offering advice on linguistic matters. Our work covers a wide range of texts for expert audiences and the general public, and includes translating multilingual content for our website to make the ECB\u2019s work accessible to non-expert readers.<br \/>\nIn your role as a trainee Croatian Translator, you will be part of one of the Division\u2019s three multilingual sections.<br \/>\nWe are responsible for communicating the ECB\u2019s messages to over 300 million Europeans who do not have English as their native language. You will be the ECB\u2019s voice in Croatian and will work closely with translators, language technologists and coordination assistants, as well as experts from other ECB business areas.<br \/>\nThe ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications, experience and skills<br \/>\nEssential:<br \/>\n* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a bachelor\u2019s degree or higher in modern languages or translation;<br \/>\n* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a good knowledge of the MS Office package;<br \/>\n* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a mastery-level (C2) command of Croatian;<br \/>\n* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0an advanced (C1) command of English, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages &lt;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/common-european-framework-reference-languages\/table-1-cefr-3.3-common-reference-levels-global-scale\">https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/common-european-framework-reference-languages\/table-1-cefr-3.3-common-reference-levels-global-scale<\/a>&gt; .<\/p>\n<p>Desired: <br \/>\n* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a master\u2019s degree (or being close to completing a master\u2019s degree) in modern languages or translation, or a master\u2019s degree in any other field combined with postgraduate studies in translation;<br \/>\n* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0completion of university courses in translation from English into Croatian and\/or experience in such translation;<br \/>\n* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0familiarity with computer-assisted translation tools;<br \/>\n* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0an interest in financial and economic affairs;<br \/>\n* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0an intermediate (B1) command of another official EU language.<\/p>\n<p>You are curious and eager to learn, and want to further develop your ability to analyse complex information. You are keen to collaborate with others, pursue team goals and learn from other people\u2019s diverse perspectives. You strive to know and anticipate stakeholder needs, and will signal any need for change and propose alternative solutions.<\/p>\n<p>You are motivated to contribute to the ECB\u2019s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe. You are keen to be part of our team and to use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.<\/p>\n<p>Further information<br \/>\nInitial traineeship of three months, with a possible extension to up to a maximum of 12 months in total subject to performance and budget.
