Simply click on this link From queer culture to traditional Indigenous heritages, friendship, loneliness, community and decolonization, our featured artists\u00a0question the world from a multitude of perspectives, with audacity, intensity and\u00a0humor. Their choreographic approaches range from narrative to conceptual and\u00a0abstract stories, opening up rich and contrasting avenues of interpretation. A unique way to discover the current and dynamic Canadian artistic scene.<\/span><\/p>\n This short film is inspired by true events. Through a sensitive approach, we discover resiliency through dance. Taylor Crowspreadshiswings comes from both the Stoney-Nakoda Nation and the Blood Tribe Blackfoot Nation and was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, on March 12, 1993. She places great importance on her Blackfoot and Stoney languages, traditional teachings and culture. Taylor is passionate about films, powwow dancing, traditional practices and creativity through sewing. She has high hopes to make a difference in her community and to be the best role model for her daughter.<\/span><\/p>\n Gravity of Center won Best Experimental Short and the Kodak Award for Best Cinematography in a Canadian Short at the 2012 edition of the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival. The premiere of Gravity of Center took place at the Yorkton Film Festival in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, in May 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n This short film opens with images of devastated or abandoned places, interspersed with shots showing the protagonists side by side. Gradually, the viewer witnesses the evolution of the relationship of the two characters through the changing nature of their interactions. Moments of tension suggesting conflict are contrasted with moments of complicity evoking confidence and play. The repeated appearance of an abandoned party scene, symbolizes a lack in their relationship. The places in which the characters coexist bear witness to their inner states.<\/span><\/p>\n A short film inspired by an original performance piece by Joleen Mitton. Two indigenous youths, a female and a male, recreate the threat and dangers of colonization from its beginnings to the modern day. Leurs approches chor\u00e9graphiques s’inscrivent \u00e0 l’\u00e9cran \u00e0 travers des r\u00e9cits narratifs, conceptuels ou abstraits, ouvrant des pistes de lectures riches et contrast\u00e9es. Une mani\u00e8re diff\u00e9rente d’aller \u00e0 la rencontre du dynamisme artistique qui se d\u00e9ploie actuellement au Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n Ce court-m\u00e9trage est bas\u00e9 sur des faits r\u00e9els. Une approche sensible nous permet de d\u00e9couvrir la r\u00e9silience en danse. Taylor Crowspreadshiswings est issue des Nations stoney-nakoda et Gens-du-Sang pieds-noirs. Elle est n\u00e9e \u00e0 Lethbridge, en Alberta et attache une grande importance \u00e0 ses langues pieds-noirs et stoney, ainsi qu’\u00e0 ses enseignements traditionnels et \u00e0 sa culture.<\/span><\/p>\n Cinq personnages se sont rencontr\u00e9s au lendemain d’un d\u00e9sastre naturel et financier. Errant dans des paysages sans nom, ils sont \u00e0 la fois d\u00e9pendants les uns des autres pour leur survie et \u00e9touff\u00e9s par leur appartenance au groupe.<\/span><\/p>\n Le ballon de l’amiti\u00e9\u00a0<\/em>nous plonge dans l’univers de deux \u00eatres fragiles o\u00f9 des instants partag\u00e9s se jouent et se rejouent en huis clos.<\/span><\/p>\n Une jeune femme et un jeune homme autochtone recr\u00e9ent les dangers et menaces auxquels ils sont expos\u00e9s depuis les d\u00e9buts de la colonisation jusqu’\u00e0 aujourd’hui. Suite \u00e0 une purification rituelle de l’influence blanche, ils retournent sur le territoire o\u00f9 un a\u00een\u00e9 incarne le savoir et la protection.<\/span><\/p>\n Hommage au c\u00e9l\u00e8bre\u00a0Banana Dance\u00a0<\/em>de Jos\u00e9phine Baker, flamboyante ic\u00f4ne de la sc\u00e8ne et activiste des ann\u00e9es 20.
