THE MASTER IN ADVANCED ENGLISH STUDIES: LANGUAGES AND CULTURES IN CONTACT is an official Master\u2019s program offered by the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidad de Valladolid, Spain in English studies. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Master\u0092s in Advanced English Studies: Languages and Cultures in<\/span>
Contact consists of 60 credits and takes one academic year to complete.<\/span>
Classes are held at the University of Salamanca during Fall semester, and<\/span>
at the University of Valladolid in the Spring semester.<\/span>
\u00a0The Master\u0092s in Advanced English Studies: Languages and Cultures in<\/span>
Contact is a flexible program that offers three academic itineraries in<\/span>
language and linguistics, and literature and culture, or a combined<\/span>
program of linguistics, literature and culture. Students are free to<\/span>
choose courses offered by these itineraries according to their academic<\/span>
or professional preferences. The subjects offered reflect the major<\/span>
research lines and methodological trends in the fields of English<\/span>
Language Learning and Linguistics, and Anglo-American Literature and<\/span>
Culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The goals of the Master\u0092s program are to enable students to acquire the<\/span>
necessary competencies and skills characteristic of an advanced,<\/span>
specialized, and interdisciplinary education. The program prepares<\/span>
students for the demanding standards of the international job market and<\/span>
allows access to the PhD program, that has been distinguished by the<\/span>
Spanish Ministry of Education for its Quality of Excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The Master\u0092s is aimed at both the professional training for teachers of<\/span>
English as a Foreign Language and the preparation of future researchers<\/span>
in academia. The study plan also addresses the curricular needs of future<\/span>
cultural mediators who work in the media, press, embassies, ministries,<\/span>
archives and libraries.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0This Master\u0092s has an inter-cultural, and interdisciplinary orientation.<\/span>
Since its beginnings, in 2007, it has welcomed international students<\/span>
from all over the world: US, China, India, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Iran,<\/span>
Cuba, Syria, Colombia, Romania, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

The University of Salamanca (1218) is Spain\u0092s oldest university and the<\/span>
fourth oldest in Europe. The University of Valladolid also dates back to<\/span>
the 13th century.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Humanities, both the University of Salamanca and the University of<\/span>
Valladolid hold an indisputable international prestige in areas of<\/span>
research and teaching innovation. These institutions are linked to the<\/span>
creation of the first grammar and to famous historical figures such as<\/span>
Cervantes, Lope de Vega Fray Luis de Le\u00f3n, San Juan de la Cruz, Torres<\/span>
Villarroel, and Miguel de Unamuno, among many others.<\/span><\/p>\n
