Sociolingvistika gleda na jezik kao okvir razli\u010ditih varijeteta, ina\u010dica, kao \u0161to su dijalekt, sociolekt, registar (\u017eargon), sleng, stil itd. te opisuje i tuma\u010di njihovu funkciju u jezi\u010dnoj zajednici. Student se osvje\u0161\u0107uje za dru\u0161tveni u\u010dinak tih varijeteta, tj. kako govornik njihovom naizmjeni\u010dnom uporabom, primjerenoj razli\u010ditim situacijama i razli\u010ditim sugovornicima, ostvaruje svoje namjere i ozna\u010duje svoj identitet.
